*CALIFORNIA CITIZENS REDISTRICTING COMMISSION HEARS FROM GROUPS ON EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH EFFORTS*

Sacramento, CA (February 26,2011) — The California Citizens Redistricting Commission heard from representatives of 12 various organizations on education and outreach efforts to engage the public in the redistricting process..

The Commission received presentations, followed by questions and answers, from the following:

Ochoa, National Redistricting Coordinator, Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund – Eugene Lee, Voting Rights Project Director, Asian Pacific American Legal Center, a member of the Asian American Center for Advancing Justice – Trudy Schaefer, Senior Director for Program, League of Women Voters of California – Astrid Garcia, Director of State Election Policy and Redistricting NALEO Educational Fund – Erica Teasley Linnick, Coordinator,African American Redistricting Collaborative – Bonnie E. Glaser, The Redistricting Group at Berkeley Law – Carol M. Hehmeyer, Contra Costa County Republican Party Central Committee, Vote Integrity Subcommittee – Pleshette Robertson, Sacramento Cultural Hub Media Foundation – John Kim, Co-Director, The Advancement Project – Lauren Hammond, Sacramento Area Black Caucus – Rachael O’ Brien, California Conservation Voters
